Window Bars – What Are the Options and Which One to Choose?

Mullions are structural elements that divide window panes into smaller sections, called quarters. The name comes from the German language – from the word Sprosse, which means rung. In Polish, they are sometimes also called muntins. Why are muntins used in windows and doors with glazing? In the past, technological limitations prevented the production of large glass panes, so muntins were necessary to increase the area of glazing in windows. Today, thanks to the possibility of creating large panes of glass, their main function is to give windows aesthetic values. Windows with muntins emphasize the elegance, luxurious character and prestige of the building.

1. Structural muntins (fixed)

Structural muntins are real window divisions. They are made of the same material as the window frame – wood, PVC or aluminium. Each field divided by muntins is filled with a separate pane, which gives the window an authentic, classic look.

  • Durability and solidity of construction.
  • Classic, elegant look.

2. Glued muntin bars

Glued glazing bars are mounted directly on the glass surface, on the inside and outside of the glass. This solution imitates the appearance of structural glazing bars, but is cheaper and lighter.

A wide range of veneers and the entire RAL colour palette are available. PVC glued muntin bars are available in three widths: 23 mm, 33 mm and 43 mm, and some types allow the use of Acrycolor® technology.

Our offer includes wooden windows with an aluminum overlay, in which it is possible to use wooden muntin bars in any color on the inside and aluminum muntin bars in any color on the outside.

  • Aesthetic visual effect without dividing the glass.
  • Can be installed on existing windows.

3. Viennese muntin bars

Viennese glazing bars are a unique solution that combines glued glazing bars with additional frames placed inside the insulating glass. This type of glazing bars perfectly imitates classic divisions, while providing modern technical solutions.

Our offer includes wooden windows with an aluminum overlay, in which it is possible to use wooden muntin bars in any color on the inside and aluminum muntin bars in any color on the outside.

  • The perfect combination of aesthetics and functionality.
  • Modern design while maintaining a traditional appearance.

4. Inter-glass glazing bars

The glazing bars are placed between the insulating glass panes, so they do not interfere with the surface of the outer and inner glass. This solution combines the aesthetics of the glazing bars with the ease of keeping them clean.

A wide range of veneers and the entire RAL colour palette are available. The glazing bars are available in four widths: 8 mm, 18 mm, 26 mm and 45 mm.

  • Easy to clean window.
  • Aesthetic effect without physical division of the glass.
  • Perfect for modern and minimalist interiors.
