Concealed roller blinds – SP and SP-E systems

The SP and SP-E pre-wall systems are intended mainly for newly constructed buildings, but they can also be used in existing buildings after making appropriate changes to the lintel.

The SP and SP-E pre-wall systems are intended mainly for newly constructed buildings, but they can also be used in existing buildings after making appropriate changes to the lintel. It is crucial to plan the use of these systems and their installation at the building design stage, which allows for the optimal use of their functionality. The SP and SP-E systems offer excellent thermal insulation because they do not interfere with the structure of the window, door or lintel, without affecting the energy balance of the building. Additionally, these products fit harmoniously into the façade, becoming its integral part. The front of the roller shutter box serves as a base for any finishing material, e.g. plaster, which makes the box invisible on the building façade.

Construction elements, such as the inspection cover and guides, can be matched in color to the window joinery. The roller shutter curtain, similarly to adaptive systems, can be made of foam-filled profiles, plastic profiles, and extruded profiles. Roller shutters in flush-mounted systems can be equipped with an anti-insect net, which provides protection against insects while allowing light and fresh air to flow into the interior.

The Passive House Institute in Darmstadt (PHI) has appreciated the properties of roller shutters in the SP and SP-E systems, issuing a certificate for boxes measuring 165 mm or smaller. These boxes, if they meet the certified installation requirements, can be used in buildings with low energy demand. SP and SP-E roller shutters are flush-mounted systems, in which the box is built-in and its front serves as a base for the finishing material. This design means that the roller shutters do not interfere with the window or lintel structure, maintaining the tightness of the building. The SP and SP-E systems have been designed to provide protection against heat loss and aesthetic finishing of the façade. It is important that correct installation allows the use of any window that meets the requirements of the Passive House Institute, whose heat transfer coefficient Uw is lower than 0.80 W/(m²K), and the Ug coefficient of the glass does not exceed 0.70 W/(m²K).
